What We Ain’t Gonna Do Is…

Let me introduce myself by going over some things I’ve found that don’t work out well for me as a career woman, as a mom and now as a blogger. We are still close enough to New Year’s to do away with old habits that produce rotten fruit, and bad habits that produce negativity. So here’s my list of things not to do for the next 21 days (statistical number of days to create new habits):

… Entertain negativity or negative people.

Life means things happen. In some cases we can control what happens and in some we can’t. We have control over our outlook. So let’s be intentional in seeing the positive in as many things as possible. Bridge that same energy over into your relationships. We cannot stay positive when we have negative people around us. Misery, does in fact, love company. Make sure the people you’re giving your time to are worthy of it. If they aren’t, learn to recognize the signs for what they are. Cut them off!

… Be dehydrated by not drinking water.

I know I have a HUGE issue with this. I mean, I cannot deal with water. I’d rather have an ice cold cola or hot coffee (extra creamer) to relax me. However, it’s really important to put a little water in your system everyday. I’m not a 64 oz of water subscriber, but SOME water is good for rinsing excess food from the mouth and easing the digestive process. Some people drink a glass of water before meals to help with fullness. Not me… I enjoy every morsel I can stuff in my belly. Pray for me…

… Meddle in other people’s affairs.

How can you expect to succeed in your own space if you’re nose deep in someone else’s space? I saw a lady post on social media the other night, “Start a business and mind it.” Truer words have never been spoken. It was hilarious and truthful at the same time. It’s best for each of us to keep our own space clean instead of performing housekeeping exercises in other peoples houses. Sweep your own porch before you go out with someone else’s trash bags in your hand.

… Be dishonest about our feelings.

There are going to be some bumps in the road here and there and sometimes, feelings will be bruised, smashed and/or hurt. Instead of building a house in pain, we’re going to create paths to traverse and overcome the pain. Yes! Coping mechanisms engage! One of the best things hurt people can do to release the pain is be honest about how they feel. You don’t have to enter into a screaming match or say hurtful things to the offender, but telling someone you don’t appreciate their delivery or message is very honest of you and will allow you to release the power it has over your life almost instantly.

… Act like you didn’t just LOVE reading this blog.

You’ve made it this far and that tells me (and YOU) you’ve enjoyed what you’ve read. Why not make sure you’re here for the next post? Drop your email down below (an email you actually check, don’t be cruel) so we can grow together and keep one another in the loop! I know I enjoy putting this blog together for you, and I’d love to have you stay with me.

Weekly Whisperings:

Rapper 21 Savage detained by immigration pending proceedings for deportation in Atlanta, GA. Apparently, this guy is from the UK and his visa expired in 2005!

Bow Wow arrested and charged with domestic violence. His face is all scratched up too. We’ll see how this one pans out.

Blac Chyna and Kid Buu (the clone dude) fighting? They deny it, but the police responded anyway… I don’t have anything here… Apparently she skipped her baby exchange with Rob and some other messiness.

The SpongeBob tribute at the Super Bowl was awesome! Maroon 5 put on a show for the fans of the yellow dude!
