So I guess it’s a good time to put this old brain to use a little. I’ve finally retired and I have a little bit of free time over here, so why not jump the blog back off?
What did I do?
I’ve spent the past 20 years as an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States of America. I had some of the most memorable times of my life on duty, and others off duty. I’ve made friends that have become family over the years, and WOW… I went, I saw, I conquered and now I’m done.

What am I going to do now?
I have no clue. Can we just list things I’m NOT going to do? I’m not going to be a stripper (like my girl Alex tried to say). I’m not going to smoke weed, because I don’t want to. I’m not going to work at ANYBODY’S gas station because there is NO WAY I’ll come in contact with THAT level of bathroom. Outside of that, I’m just exploring some fashion options with my hair and nails and being chill. I gave platinum blonde hair a go, but I don’t think the hairstyle was a good fit for my head. I might revisit that. Maybe.
How do I feel now?
I feel ok. Part of me misses being in the military. However, there is a greater part of me that needed to shake that life loose for the sake of my family. Sometimes, what’s best for you is doing what’s best for the people around you. My children truly need me RIGHT NOW, and not in a few more years.

Have I set any goals for the “after?”
No. I’m just trying to maintain right now and get used to the “new” normal. I won’t be rushed or forced into anything.
What advice can I give younger people in the military?
Choose YOU. Every time you’re presented with a choice between you and something else, choose yourself. If choosing you will improve the situation on both sides, that’s awesome. If not, guess what, the military is built to continue whether you’re there or not. Your absence will stop NOTHING forever. Be sure you’re an invaluable asset inside the military and outside as well. You’ll never be irreplaceable.
So let’s just settle on this being good for now. I’m out here trying to stay hydrated and moisturized.
