Around the house? Stay active!

Are you stuck inside? Pause: I am not requesting any further information. I do not need to know why. Continue: Do you feel you’re losing your grip on life? Windows closing in? Monterey closing in (joke for my Mac users)? It can get like that quickly, and next thing you know, you’re playing darts with your exes photos before they even know they’re your ex! Let’s figure out how to keep our sanity and add a little fun to the process… How about 25 rainy day ideas? Let’s go!

1. Baking.

Even if you’re not particularly awesome in the baking department, you should always have a box of cake mix and cookie dough handy. You never know when you’ll need one (or both)!

SN: Did you know Ghirardelli makes cake mix?!

2. Painting.

Painting isn’t just about an easel, canvas, brushes and acrylic. Watercolors are also a nice medium to try and they mix well will brush pens.

3. Laundry.

Yes I’m serious. You heard that buzzer go off two days ago. Stop dressing out of the dryer and give that wrinkle release button a rest.

4. Yoga.

I’ve heard some things. I haven’t tried them though. I’m a member of the Fluff and Stuff association and I choose that as my excuse not to break my neck trying. That doesn’t mean you can’t!

5. Puzzle.

In real life! I do them on my phone, but doing a real puzzle and even gluing the pieces down to make decorative pieces is so much fun!

6. Dance.

Youtube is the key here… Hear me out! There are videos of the Michael Jackson Experience game… Try to keep up with one and see if you can survive. Fun level: EXPERT.

7. Origami.

You’ll lose track of time trying to perfect one fold. I’ve been on this planet for 40 years and I made a paper crane. Once.

8. Garage.

If it’s safe (no thunder/lightning), the view is unmatched! My children used to love running in and out of the garage (and rain), splashing around either barefoot or in rain boots.

9. Delete spam.

When was the last time you cleaned out your inbox? If you even saw the icon dot on my phone you wouldn’t respect me at all. It’s tragic. Set a goal for yourself, like getting your notification number below 500.

10. Hairstyling.

Everyone has seen that one hairdo they’d love to give a shot, but they don’t quite have the right time or place for it. Guess what… NOW is the the time!

11. Practice writing.

Have you even learned to write in cursive? How about calligraphy? I can write in all the cursive in the world, but I’ve only managed to master faux calligraphy. Both are quite a bit of fun though.

12. Coloring.

Most adults skip this old fashioned time travel system. However, the market is saturated with adult coloring books that fit into almost any niche you can imagine. If youโ€™re on the hunt for a kids coloring book, hereโ€™s one!

13. Write it down.

Is there a memory you enjoy? You should try writing it down in a journal, or even on a blank sheet of paper. You can decorate it or color it like you want, because why? It’s yours.

14. Home concert.

No one said you had to be good at it. However, if you think you have the ability to outshiine someone in your house, or even online, challenge them to a battle just for funsies!

15. Random recipe.

The last one I tried was zucchini boats. I swear on everything those were a good idea from start to finish. I will never forget that meal. Try eating something you wouldn’t normally choose.

16. Selfie series.

Dress up. Take pictures. Dress up again. Take pictures. Remember that most newer phones have a time delay option.

17. Take a bath.

I’m not a bather. Most people aren’t. However, a good soak in some hot water, with or without bubbles, can change a cold soul into a warm heart.

18. Change your sheets.

I won’t speculate about the frequency of anyone’s household chores. But if this resonates with you, go be your best self while changing your sheets.

19. Sudoku.

I have never. But word on the street is once you finish one, you’ll never stop.

20. YouTube rabbit hole.

They’re easier to find than you think. Buzzfeed Unsolved is one of my favorites.

21. Letter writing.

I’m a stationery fiend. I love all that is pen and paper. I like to send letters to people randomly (people I know) because it gives them a different measure of love from you than a text message or an email. Try it out and see how you like it.

22. Reddit threads.

I don’t know who created it, but my goodness you can lose your spot in the time/space continuum on a single Reddit thread. You don’t even have to post anything. You can just read.

23. 3D Puzzles.

I won’t dive deep here, but I will say this… Make sure you pick ALL OF THEM up when you’re done. Stepping on a LEGO is still one of the higher pain levels of human life; just below toe stubbing.

24. Crossword puzzles.

I’ll tell you what. Crossword puzzles will have you rethinking your ability to adult. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t give it a shot anyway! I love the ones in Morning Brew, as well as the actual read.
